Description for Rutile

A type of titanium dioxide, it comes in colors such as red, gold, black, yellow, and green. The inclusions in platin rutile are plate-like titanium.
Rutile is a common accessory mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks, containing about 60% metal. It is an important ore mineral for titanium and is also used to extract pure titanium.
Additionally, there is quartz containing rutile inclusions for ornamental purposes. This is called rutile quartz.

About Rutile Quartz

Both rutile and quartz are very common minerals, so they are actually mined in mines around the world. However, for beautiful rutile quartz used as gemstones, the main source is Brazil.
In Europe, the golden needles are considered “symbols of wealth and prosperity,” believed to attract money. Names originating from mythology also exist: the supple, delicate needle-like rutile has been called “Venus Hair” because it resembles the beautiful, shining hair of Venus. Straight, needle-like rutile, on the other hand, is called “Cupid’s Arrow.”
In ancient China, rutile quartz was called the “stone of the wealthy.” Its golden needles evoked associations with “wealth,” leading to the belief that it attracts financial fortune and prosperity.
Rutile crystals form in needle-like or fibrous shapes.
The name “rutile” originates from the Latin word “rutilus,” meaning “shining like gold.”
