heavy drinker

heavy drinker in brushed Kanji
A person who is strong in alcohol. Generally, it refers to people who drink a lot or who prefer alcoholic beverages.
In Japan, there is something like a rank for a heavy drinker, and its strength increases in the order of “Uwabami-> colander(Zaru)-> frame(Wa)”.
“Uwabami” is a snake, from drinking alcohol like a snake to swallow its prey. “colander(Zaru)” is said to mean “there is no bottom” because the water drains. And “frame(Wa)” means that there is no place to get caught in the first place, so it refers to a person who is strong enough to look only barely no matter how much he drinks.
Japanese calls Shu-go.
