The east half of the Indochina peninsula, Tonkin Bay, an S-shaped north-south country along the South China Sea. Bordering the three countries of China, Laos and Cambodia, the northern part is the Tonkin Delta formed by the Song Khoi River and the mountainous area surrounding it. The central part is a narrow area where the Annan mountain range forms a cliff and approaches the South China Coast, and the narrowest part is about 50 km wide in the east and west. The south consists mainly of the large delta of the Mekong River.
